It was Dr. Seuss’s Birthday on Friday, March 2nd and the Cat in the Hat was at the Alexander Elementary School.  Pre-k through 3rd grades enjoyed Reading Across America with many different Dr. Seuss books.  The Charlotte pre-k came to the school for a visit and got to meet the Cat in the Hat.  Daisy-Head Mayzie read the “Cat in the Hat” book to everyone.  The students enjoyed Cat in the Hat water and grapes for a snack.  Each child got a copy of the National Geographic Planet Book and a goodie bag filled with Cat in the Hat treats. In the afternoon the Alexander students enjoyed a Cat in the Hat movie, followed by a birthday party for the cat with cupcakes and ice cream cups.  The rest of the month of March will be filled with Dr. Seuss books, games and fun learning.

Don’t forget to save those Box Tops for Education.  They can be dropped off at AES or at Randy’s Variety.  AES also recycles empty ink cartridges and they too can  be dropped of at AES during school hours or at Randy’s Variety.
