MAY 17: The W T Wren Post 23 American Legion Auxiliary will hold their Annual Poppy Drive in the local area.  Poppies are free but donations are welcome. Please support our efforts to help Veterans while remembering those who gave their lives for our freedoms.

MAY 17:  United Methodist Church supper, 849 Main St., Calais at 5 p.m. Baked beans, casseroles, pies and more!

MAY 18: Quoddy Voices spring concerts, ‘Something About Love’ at 7 p.m. at the Eastport Arts Center.

MAY 18: Coastal Glass customer appreciation day at 484 North Street. First come first serve lobster, hamburgers, and hotdogs. $20 windshield repair with proceeds going to American Legion. Garage door opener raffle. Noon to 4 p.m. Free.

MAY 18: Calais Area Breast Cancer Support Group will be meeting at 3 p.m. in the downstairs parlor at the Calais United Methodist Church, 849 Main St., Calais.  This free “gathering” is a comforting and safe environment to find encouragement and hope.  Open to all that have a breast cancer diagnosis.  FMI call Marianne at 454-0501. 

MAY 19: A meeting of the Washington Co. Historical & Genealogical Society will be held at 1 p.m. in the Emergency Management Room, 28 Center Street in Machias. Speaker for the afternoon will be Mrs. Annie White, age 97, who will discuss “Teaching School in Washington County, 1944 to 1977.”

MAY 19: Pancake breakfast by the Parade Committee at the Pembroke Legion from 7 to 10 a.m.

MAY 19: Warbler Walk at the Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge. Come and see a variety of bird species. Bring rubber boots and insect repellent. Meet at 6:30 a.m. at eagle observatory parking lot.

MAY 19: Baked bean supper at the Parish Hall in Dennysville at 5 p.m.

MAY 21: Pembroke Historical Society Meeting and Chantey Sing: River Meets Rail Meets Lumbermen’s Songs at the Pembroke Libary at 6:30 p.m. FMI 207-726-4745.

MAY 23: Meridian and Chakra balancing workshop with Paul Ouellette. No background required. Held at 10 Barker Street Suite B, 6 p.m. $5 donation suggested but not mandatory. 

MAY 25: The CHS Drama Club presents The Internet is Distract - Oh look a kitten! Family friendly show. Admission and baked goods by donation. 6:30 p.m. in the CHS cafeteria.

MAY 25: Rooftop for Relay att Randy’s Variety in Alexander from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All proceeds go to the Alexander 4-A-Cure Relay for Life team.

MAY 28: Memorial Day Observance at 8:30 a.m. at the Dennysville Congregational Church, parade to Dennysville Cemetery. Bus provided and refreshments.

MAY 31: Lumber River Quartet in Concert at 6:30 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church, 21 Church Street, Calais.

JUNE 1: Riverside Rebekah food sale at Baileyville Food Mart from 9 a.m. to noon.

JUNE 11: Riverside Rebekah Bottle Drive to help send kids to camp from 4 p.m. until dark. For pickup call Gilda at 454-7682 or Polly at 796-2230.

JUNE 12: Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host a free workshop, Essentials of College Planning for adults 19 and over at WCCC in Claaisfrom 9 a.m.. to 11 a.m.
