Thursday night the halls of Calais Elementary School were transformed from the standard school hallways to adventure rides straight from the Polar Express and Frozen. The event has become an annual December tradition at the elementary school and part of many families’ holiday traditions.

The event features two themed adventures that take kids through activities designed around the book or movie. They get the chance to work on crafts from making reindeer antlers and lanterns to decorating cookies and cupcakes. Each hallway features its own mode of transportation, a beautifully decorated white sleigh for the Frozen Adventure and a hand-painted train for the Polar Express Hall. Both rides got a bit of a facelift this year from teacher Dorothy Underwood who freshened their paint. Students provided the “muscle” for each vehicle.

Each adventure ended with the chance for kids to meet and have their picture taken with Santa and Elsa, Anna and Olaf. It was a fun evening for all to enjoy.

After the hallway fun kids and their families could go into the cafeteria and have some hot chocolate while they wrote letters to Santa or made Christmas Cards to send to troops overseas. Each year the event changes and gets bigger. It will be exciting to see what next year holds.
