With at least 12 inches of new snow and wild drifts that the wind whipped up all night, we were surprised to see different snowdrifts than we’ve had all winter.  We’re hoping it won’t stay this time of the year but St. Paddy’s Day doesn’t look too promising.  The snow brought in lots of birds to the feeders.  The neighborhood cat is still making the rounds.  We’re putting out food every day.  He’s a mess, dirty and scraggly looking and a scabby face from a fight, but he’s fat!  Ralph sees to that. Our other cats don’t like the cold and snow so they are content looking out the windows and they are fat!

The traveling basketball teams played in Calais on Saturday and Sunday.  Our great-granddaughter Marit played with the Brewer Travel Team.  There were four girls’ teams and eight boys’ teams in the competition.  With the storm there was only one game played on Sunday.  PJ, Karen Maria, Ryley, and Tianna brought Marit down, staying with their parents, Marcia and Paul Wheelock.  It took a little longer driving the airline with the storm on the return home.

When I missed a week of getting my news in because of the flu, I didn’t get to brag about our newest great granddaughter.  Hannah Sophia Wheelock was born on March 1st, weighing in at 7lbs, 3 oz, and 20 inches long, to Tony and Sam Wheelock and sister Emma.  They live in Durham so we haven’t met her yet but her pictures are some cute.

It’s time for the annual Cooper town meeting on Monday, March 30th at 7 p.m. at the Cooper Town Hall and Community Center.  The Friends have provided refreshments for the last few years.

Once again the Meddybemps Christian Church was canceled because of a bad snowstorm.  Palm Sunday is March 29th and Easter is April 5th.  Easter is the first Sunday after the full moon after the first day of spring which is April 4th this year.  The first day of spring is Friday, March 20th.
