Variety of A Different Kind

By Kaileigh Deacon

For the last three years Cindy Delmonaco has run her small business out of the former Clark’s Variety building on the corner in Milltown.

To most, the store looks like a bridal shop with a mannequin in the window dressed in a bridal gown, but to set foot inside shows the variety the store offers. “We’re much more than just a wedding shop,” says Delmonaco.

The little store not only offers a place for women to find wedding dresses and bridesmaid gowns from designers like Alfred Sung and After 6, but it also does event planning, tux rental, catering, and selling home décor. “We sell things from candle warmers to water ski chairs,” Delmonaco said. But if you already have your dress and need it cleaned for a special occasion, Delmonaco also  offers dry cleaning services.

The event planning Delmonaco offers is for more than just weddings. If there’s an event you need planned or help with, they can do it. “We do everything from the invites to clearing the tables,” Delmonaco said. Her event planning will help handle the tent rental, the linen rental. Whatever is needed to be done, they can help with it.

Beyond wedding and event planning Delmonaco also offers balloon bouquets for all occasions as well as Mary Kay makeovers. “We offer Mary Kay makeover days one or two times a month,” Delmonaco said.

The store is in the process of branching out into other avenues. “We are in the process of carrying dresses not only for weddings, but for proms and pageants as well,” Delmonaco said. The addition of these dresses will mean saving a trip to Bangor for many high school students and parents.

So don’t hesitate to stop in and check out the variety of things Cindy has to offer. “We offer a little bit of everything, just like Clark’s always did,” Delmonaco joked.
