What a beautiful fall we have been enjoying. Many days we are able to do outside chores with sweaters and a comfortable hat to keep ourselves toasty and warm.  Hunting season is over except for Black Powder so going for nice walks in the woods and back roads is pleasant and relaxing. Hope you are continuing to enjoy this pleasant time of year.

Don’t forget this December 13th at 5 pm we will be celebrating our 13th  Annual GLS Christmas Memory tree! If you have a family member or a close friend you would like to have remembered please call Linda at 796-5095. As always we will be serving seafood chowder. Bring an ornament to hang on the tree with their name on it. Ornaments from years past are still available. Mark your calendars for December 13th at 5 pm at the home of Damon and Linda Curtis.

Our ornaments a are still here but they are getting old. So if you have another one bring it.

I received a message from Gary Campbell President of PPDLW a few days ago.

“This  morning the Supreme Court of Maine upheld the BEP’s decision which denied Champlain Wind LLC’s appeal of the DEP decision to deny a permit to the Bowers Wind Project.

Bowers is now all but guaranteed to be safe from industrial wind development. Defeating First Wind, for the first time in its sordid history, is monumental. It will have implications for all future wind projects in Maine. This was a team effort. I may have presented the obvious arguments, but you, our devoted members, wrote checks and countless letters. Attended meetings and testified at what felt like endless hearings. YOU made the difference. Pat yourselves on back and accept the sincere gratitude of the officers and board of PPDLW. Merry Christmas!”

The Women to Women Group in Grand Lake Stream had another wonderful Christmas Party on Monday with 27 attending.  The ladies sipped Mimosas while the Ukelele Group performed.  They played many old favorites including several Christmas songs.  Then they enjoyed a pot luck lunch which showed off the talents of all our splendid cooks!  Then to the Yankee Swap!  There were so many delightful handmade gifts.  Once again so much fun with wonderful women, good food and lots of laughter!

Remember to stop by the Snowmobile Clubhouse in Grand Lake Stream on Saturday, December 12 and 19 between 11 and 1 for coffee and baked goods.  Good coffee, good friends and good conversation!

The Downeast Lakes Land Trust (DLLT) is pleased to offer free education programs to area schools.  If you are interested in scheduling a school program with DLLT, please contact Colin Brown, Education and Outreach Manager, at (207) 796 – 2100 or email
