High School Boys’ Soccer


The Woodland Dragons took an early 2-0 first half lead on their Tiger guests as Drew Hayward collected two conversions. Drew made two more opening the second half before Damien Lank hit Shead’s first tally at 24:12. Seven minutes later Gabe Hunnewell answered for Woodland, as the team played to a 6-2 victory. Hayward paced the Dragons scoring five goals. Alex Morrison collected 7 of 10 Tiger attempts, while counterpart Greg Jarrett saved 16 of 35 Woodland shots.

At Narraguagus Riley Russell drew first blood for Woodland as he scored at 38:17. Sabre Phelps connected for the guests at 36:13, and again at 35:07. The next two tallies came from the Knights Hayden Pineo, closing out the half at 3-2. Grimanis and Hayward opened the second half with tallies only to see Guagus Pineo get on back to put the score at 5-3 with 24:51 remaining. Ending the game Michael Grimanis and Drew Hayward scored to end the contest at 7-3 for Woodland. Grimanis added 2-assists with one each by Cilley and Hayward. Alex Morrison stopped 2 of 5 shots on goal.

In Calais the visiting Dragons scored the lone first half conversion at early at 35:50 when Grimanis passed to Sabre Phelps for the tally. Then over ten minutes of the second half passed before Drew Hayward found the net at 29:50, then Drew hit four more and Riley added the fifth for a 7-0 win. Grimanis and Russell had second half assists. Alex Morrison garnered 2 of 5 and Matt Perkins gathered 10 of 25 shots.

Calais boys’ JV soccer 1-0 over MA Blake Collins scored for Calais. Calais goalies Cody Pellerin and Mat Perkins made 5 saves on 9 shots.

Calais boys’ JV soccer lost 8-2 to WA. Calais trailed 2-0 at the half. Gavin Parks scored off an assist from Blake Collins and Blake Collins scored off a corner kick in second half. Calais keeper Branden Gillespie made 10 saves on 19 shots.

Calais Varsity lost to MA 6-0. Cody Pellerin and Matt Perkins made 11 saves on 22 shots.


At Danforth the Shead Tigers lost a tough 2-1 contest. Ethan Lank hit the lone Eastport tally, and goalie CJ Francis gathered 22-25 East Grand shots on goal.
