At a special dinner ceremony at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Calais, the St. Croix Knights of Columbus Council #149 distributed the funds from their Tootsie Roll Drive to four area recipients. The four checks totaling $545.05 each were given out to the special education departments of Calais, Woodland, and Princeton school systems. The Beckett Center was also presented with a check for $545.05 to go towards their Special Olympics fund. Eighty percent is given away at the local level with 20% going to the state office level, where it is pooled together with other council's money to make a large donation to a handicapped program. Locally the Calais Knights collected just over $2,885.00 during their Tootsie Roll Drive over the Columbus Day weekend.
