Calais High School Honor Parts

Riley Noelle Sluzenski is a graduate of Calais High School and is this year’s Valedictorian. She has been involved in several extra-curricular and co-curricular activities including volleyball, track, NHS, NTHS, student council, math team, Tri-M, band, academic decathlon, and Skills USA. Riley has held the offices of Academic Decathlon Team Captain, Band President, NHS President, and Skills aUSA State Officer (2015-2017). Throughout her high school career she has remained hard working and dedicated to her academics and this has earned her several awards and recognitions. She was the Voices of Democracy District Winner, St. Croix Student of the Year, Presidential Scholar Semi-Finalist, Phi Beta Kappa Award recipient, Principal’s Award recipient, earned eight medals for Academic Decathlon and three medals for Skills USA. Riley has been described as determined, intelligent and dependable. She plans to attend Boston College - Carroll School of Management and will be majoring in Accounting. Riley states “I had an interest in math so I decided to take the accounting class the technical center offers. Mrs. Sawyer was an amazing teacher and I ended up falling in love with accounting.” She wishes one day to make enough money to travel the world and be able to see Hamilton on Broadway. When asked what her most meaningful experience in high school was she explained it as “being part of Skills USA. Skills USA is an organization that really becomes like a family. During my three years as a member and two years in office, the people that I met helped me grow and mostly overcome my fear of public speaking.” Calais High School wishes Riley Noelle Sluzenski the best of luck!
