23rd Annual Grand Lake Stream Folk Art Festival Slated For July 29 & 30

“Best Family-Friendly Art & Music Festival” – Yankee Magazine 2015 Editor’s Choice Award

More than 50 of the finest folk artists and craftsmen in the northeast and an outstanding line-up of talented musicians will gather in Grand Lake Stream on July 29th and 30th for the 23rd Annual Grand Lake Stream Folk Art Festival.  Local organizers will once again have this small Washington County village hopping with activity for the entire family.  The Festival runs each day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Live musical performances are on stage under the tent rain or shine and include Maine’s premier American roots, Celtic, bluegrass, folk and jazz musicians.  Sunday morning features an Old Time Music Jam from 10:30 a.m. – noon, with all musicians welcome!

Traditional and contemporary folk art and handcrafts in a wide variety of mediums will be exhibited for sale by artists and craftsmen from across Maine and beyond, with many demonstrating their talents.

New this year, fiber artists will delight festival-goers with their creativity in a display featuring a variety of mediums including spinning, weaving, felting, knitting, rug hooking and quilting.  The annual quilt raffle to benefit the Festival will feature a unique design by local quilter, Edith Sprague.

There will be fly tying demonstrations, bamboo fly rod and snowshoe making instruction, along with an interpretive exhibit featuring locally-built Grand Lake canoes.  Children will be entertained throughout the weekend with an arts and crafts program.

Historians will enjoy the Remembrance Tent with displays of archival and heirloom photographs chronicling the history and heritage of Grand Lake Stream and its residents.

Breakfast and lunch are served each day with a variety of local food vendors offering burgers, wraps, lobster rolls, smoked-salmon, fried chicken, wood-fired pizza, ice cream, strawberry shortcake, and more!

Admission is $8 for one day or $12 for both days.  Children under 12 are admitted at no charge.  Pets welcomed on leashes.  Parking is on-street.  For more information, visit the Festival website at www.grandlakestreamfolkartfestival.com or follow the Festival on Facebook.
