Our Community Pot Luck Picnic this week with be at  Sunset Cove Beach (David Irving’s camp). Hopefully the weather with cooperate.  If it should be windy, we will meet at Farm Cove Dam around 5:00 p.m. Howard Irving has asked that if you need a boat ride to contact him either by phone at 796-5383 or e-mail at He would like to leave from his house which is the third house on West Shore Drive. I am not sure what time he wants to leave so check with him. Remember to bring a chair, utensils, favorite beverage and a dish to share. Any questions, give me a call,  796-5007. Andrea

One of the many enjoyable features of being part of Grand Lake Stream is the wonderful heritages of the families that lived here for many decades and are so proud of their heritage.  When I review these reports I like to see how many people I have known. How many do you recognize?

THE BROWN 29th FAMILY REUNION: August 5, 2017: The 29th annual Brown Family Reunion was held on August 5th for the descendants of the late Edward T. Brown and Charlotte B. (Hold) Brown at the homestead in Grand Lake Stream. It was hosted by Jackie and Duane Nelson. We had 16 present this year and hope for a bigger attendance next year. We had a beautiful day.

McLaughlin Reunion: The descendants of Henry and Maude McLaughlin held their annual reunion on Sunday August 6th at the Brown Homestead in Grand Lake Stream. Attending from Baileyville: Jim and Vicki McLaughlin, Bill and Vickie McLauglin, Betty, Larry and Sabre Newman and Melinda and Kacie Burke. From Calais: Rita McLaughlin, Butch and Linda McLaughlin and Gaynor Nelson. From Holden: David and Natasha Mclaughlin. From Wilmington, NC: Jeff, Sara and Emma McLaughlin: From Grand Lake Stream, Jane Shepard and Joyce Brown. From San Jose, CA.: Donald Kahrs, from Strasbourg, France: Aure Dickeli-Gousson and from Mendon MA: Duane and Jackie Nelson.

Downeast Lakes Land Trust would like to thank all the volunteers who made the 13th Annual West Grand Lake Race a success!  In addition, the 4th Annual Baxter Outdoors “Downeast Lakes 5-Miler” had the best turnout yet, with close to 40 runners making the trip along Little Mayberry Cove Trail.  Thank you to Grand Lake Lodge for sponsoring this race, with all proceeds benefiting Teens-To-Trails.

The temporary road construction on Fourth Lake Road, intended for August 16-18, has been POSTPONED.  This road closure will happen at a date in the near future, so please stay tuned to DLLT’s website, facebook and the Advertiser Column for details.

For those readers who have property on the East Side of Big Lake, the Big Lake Township Road Association will be held Sunday, August 20, 2017 at McIver’s Camp at 4:00 p.m. on the Yates Point Road.
