PAWS Hosts CATS’ MEOW Dinner and Fundraiser

Are you looking for a special way to end the summer? How about the Cats’ Meow: A Purrfectly Delicious Dinner at the Eastport Arts Center on Saturday, September 23rd, that will support the work of PAWS Brave Hearts, your local animal care, adoption and education center? This festive evening includes a four-course dinner, with a choice of lobster with beef tenderloin or gourmet vegetarian as the main course, as well as music by Keltic Schmeltic and a live auction.  The doors will open at 5 p.m. for auction browsing and an opportunity to meet several felines dressed to the nines to make a lasting impression on guests.

This dinner is one of several very important fundraisers that support the work of PAWS Brave Hearts. Since 1998, the organization has provided transitional care for stray, neglected, abandoned or surrendered cats and dogs in Washington County.  For the past five years, PAWS has proactively reduced companion animal overpopulation through its City Kitties Trap-Neuter-Adopt-Return program that has sterilized and vaccinated hundreds of community cats in Calais and Eastport who were returned to loving caregivers or adopted into new homes. In 2016, PAWS expanded its services to the community by hosting subsidized spay/neuter clinics for income-qualified families, in partnership with CSNC, where more than 400 cats were sterilized and vaccinated.

Tickets are $30 per person, available in advance at Eastport Pets, and all proceeds will provide direct support to the animals in PAWS’ care. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door. For more information about the CATS’ MEOW or PAWS Brave Hearts, call Eastport Pets at 207-853-0099.  If you wish to help, but are unable to attend this event, you can donate to this worthy cause via Pay Pal at or by mail at 368 South St, Calais, ME 04619.
