Calais Regional Hospital Appoints New Chief Medical Officer

Calais Regional Hospital is pleased to announce Dr. Francis Lee will be serving as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Calais Regional Hospital.   He assumed the CMO duties on June 11.

Dr. Lee’s primary role will consist of providing leadership while facilitating medical staff interactions with hospital administration, direct care staff, and the governing board. Moreover, to assure both effective and efficient delivery of quality medical care consistent with the mission, vision, policies and bylaws of Calais Regional Hospital.

“I recognize the multitude of hurdles that rural Americans face and think the hospital and its staff can help to overcome healthcare obstacles for our community members,” said Dr. Francis Lee.  “As we continue reinventing Calais Regional Hospital, I want everyone to share my excitement and spirit of anticipation of wonderful things to come.”

The CMO reports to CEO Rod Boula and works collaboratively with the Senior Executive team. He will be a participant and important factor in defining the overall quality and safety of care, business strategy and direction of the organization.  In addition, the CMO will lead the overall clinical vision for the organization; provide clinical direction to the health management network; and participate in the assessment of existing clinical programs, strategy, development, and implementation of innovative clinical programs that includes collaboration with strategic business partners. Furthermore, the CMO will provide medical oversight, expertise, education and leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, fiscally sound and safe healthcare services.
