Last week, Calais High School students participated in two very important events- the annual Polar Bear Dip and the SkillsUSA Skill and Leadership Championships for the state of Maine.  In both cases, they went above and beyond expectations and proudly represented Calais.

Last Thursday, you would have been hard-pressed to name the more impressive event- the National Technical Honor Society Induction Ceremony or the drama club’s spectacular performance of Final Placement.  Both events made Calais High School proud as students shined in their roles.

Deadline Nears for UMM’s Writing Competition

The Binnacle, the literary magazine of the University of Maine at Machias, is sponsoring its Tenth Annual Ultra-Short Competition, open to writers in Washington County and around the globe. Interested writers of short narrative under 150 words and poetry of sixteen lines or fewer are welcome to submit their works.
